On Saturday, January 8, 2022, Chicago for Abortion Rights and more than a dozen local ally organizations are set to counterprotest the anti-abortion March for “Life” rally at 219 S. Dearborn St.

Abortion rights activists are set to gather at 12:30 p.m., while anti-abortion protestors will meet at 1 p.m. for a rally at Federal Plaza and protest through the streets.

Linda Loew, a main organizer for the counterprotest, said the point is to stay visible and vocal against anti-abortion protestors.

“We represent the majority of people in this country who one way or another want the right to abortion to stay safe and legal,” Loew said.

A short program will begin at 12:30 p.m. with featured speaker Dr. Allison Cowett, an obstetrician/gynecologist specializing in contraception and abortion.

Cowett is the medical director of Family Planning Associates Medical Group in the West Loop, one of the largest independent abortion providers in the country.

The expected temperature will be 28 degrees and masks are required. Anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 is asked not to attend.
