Is it possible for each one of us to love our bodies? As they are right now – even while reading this sentence? The topic of body acceptance is near and dear to journalist Katie Morell, who has penned our Body Love column for nearly a year, interviewing a diverse set of activists in the space.
We’ve decided to bring this column to the stage for a one-night-only event titled Body Love Live! from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 at Coalition Impact, 405 W. Superior, in Chicago’s River North neighborhood.
During the event, Katie will interview authors and activists on what it means to love one’s body, the latest in the body image movement and how to combat the media’s narrow definition of beauty.
This event is open to anyone 13 years old and up. It will involve a fireside chat with Northwestern’s Dr. Renee Engeln, author of “Beauty Sick”; a panel discussion with local activists and time for audience Q&A.
