Thank you to everyone who has supported the 2021 Chicago Independent Media Alliance (CIMA) joint fundraiser!
This year’s CIMA campaign has raised more than $25,000 for the 43 participating outlets since May 12, and we have just over a week to go before the #SaveChicagoMedia effort ends on June 11.
Your support helps local, independent media thrive in Chicago, and for Rebellious, it ensures we can continue crashing the media boys club.
I don’t need to tell you that the vast majority of media outlets are owned, operated, and run by moneyed cis straight white men—you see it every day in their coverage.
Everything they do is dedicated to maintaining the status quo, one in which anyone who isn’t them faces discrimination, lack of opportunity and resources, and a bunch of BS we don’t need.
Owning a feminist media outlet, founding the Feminist Media Foundation, means crashing the boys club and transforming the status quo into the feminist future we’re all striving for.
This mouthy Black lesbian feminist is so grateful to everyone who is with us on this journey, including our incredible team of writers and creators, our partners, our colleagues in CIMA—and all of you.
Together, we’re telling the stories other media outlets won’t tell and giving voice to Chicago’s diverse AF feminist communities.
If you haven’t given to CIMA yet, it’s not too late! You have until 11:59 p.m. CT on Friday, June 11 to give to one, to many, or to all.
Any amount counts; what may seem like a small gift to you makes a huge difference for us! Thank you for believing in independent local media.
In Rebellion,
Karen
