Hello friends,

My super profesh new headshot Credit: Spider Meka

I hope this post finds you well
as well as you can be during these trying times
not curled in a ball in the corner
sober.

As some of you may have seen on Instagram, I’m launching a new project called the Feminist Writers Society: An inspirational meeting place for frustrated feminist writers.

The idea is that for about 80 minutes every Thursday evening (at 7 p.m. ET), fewer than 10 us will meet on Zoom, talk about our writing projects, spend about 30 minutes in quiet writing bliss, then debrief. All for the low, low price of $12. We’ll launch on January 18, 2024.

If you’ve heard enough and you’re in for some Feminist Writers Society fun, you can sign up on Eventbrite here or scan the Eventbrite QR code.

I’m incredibly excited about this project, and it checks a lotta boxes for me, providing:

  • Dedicated writing time
  • A chance to meet fellow feminist badasses
  • Income to keep Rebellious Magazine going

My hope for the people who join me is that it gives you:

  • Permission to make time for creativity
  • Access to a new community
  • Accountability to keep on keepin’ on

I spent a chunk of my career as a reporter, and as much as I love being an editor, a founder and a podcaster, I miss writing. A lot. And I’m realizing that because it’s no longer my full-time job, I have to create time for it. Preferably in the company of other like-minded people who are in the throes of staring down blank pages.

The Feminist Writers Society might be a good fit for you if you’re working on:

  • An article
  • An essay
  • A column
  • Copy of any kind
  • A book
  • A short story
  • A dissertation
  • A thesis
  • Journaling more often
  • Nothing in particular

I’m realizing that this post will go live on Giving Tuesday, traditionally a day dedicated to donating to nonprofit organizations. You should definitely do that, too. And: I invite you to give yourself the gift of time to write.

Tickets, more details and a sample agenda can be found on our Eventbrite page.

I hope to see you soon on Zoom!

In Rebellion,
Karen
