Not only was March 8 International Women’s Day, but it was also Rebellious Magazine’s anniversary, marking 11 years since our publication’s launch. We celebrated this momentous occasion in the best way possible, by spending the night with Ari Lennox as she brought her age/sex/location tour to Chicago’s House of Blues for the first of two highly-anticipated performances.

“Okay, Chicago. There’s some beautiful people in here,” said Lennox before thanking the evening’s opening artists, Alex Vaughn and Jai’Len Josey. “And shout out to y’all for coming. Thank you. I can’t believe it!”

Fans sang along throughout the night especially on age/sex/location favorites like “Outside” and “POF.” From the moment Lennox took the stage, the good vibes never stopped echoing between the walls of the packed venue.

Earlier in the night, following a soulful set from Josey, Vaughn explained that this was her very first time in Chicago noting that a local artist is responsible for creating one of her favorite songs. She proceeded to blast Kanye West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” inspiring ripples of movement across the crowd.

Full of soul and playful lyricism, it was no surprise when age/sex/location landed on so many Best Albums of 2022 lists. With her enchanting stage presence and silky vocals, somehow Lennox makes the songs even more irresistible in the live setting.
