As it has for at least the last 15 years, Rape Victim Advocates ended Sexual Assault Awareness Month with the haunting demonstration Standing Silent Witness.
Participants stood silently for an hour at Federal Plaza, representing the silencing of the victims of sexual violence. It’s RVA’s signature event for #SAAM, culminating a month of fundraising, benefit performances and feminist hero trivia.
Other SAAM events around Chicago included sexual assault prevention and ally training, as well as events at colleges and universities across the city.
