Rebellious Magazine for Women debuted seven years ago today, on International Women’s Day. One hiatus, more than 1,000 posts and dozens of amazing contributors later, we’re still here—thanks to all of you.
There’s a lot of bad news in, around and about media these days, and we’re proud to be a local, independent, feminist outlet that’s still going strong and working our way toward long-term sustainability. As many of you know, Rebellious doesn’t have big backers. We are owned by a single stubborn black lesbian feminist over 40 who is throwing everything she’s got at beating the odds.
We couldn’t have done it—we couldn’t be doing it—without your support. Thank you for being here on the site, for liking and sharing our stories, attending our events, buying our merch, becoming a member, and being Rebellious. And words can’t express how much we owe to the hardest-working writers, photographers, creators and contributors in Chicago.
In lieu of an Anniversary Party this year, we’re focused on a major pivot we couldn’t be more excited about, and on making our Feminist Prom fundraiser in May even more Red and Wild.
Since we aren’t all celebrating in person, we hope you’ll raise a virtual glass to Rebellious and show us some birthday love:
For getting your Swag on
Love and Thanks,
Team Rebellious
